A)  It has no Qty or Value updating feature.

E)  A purchasing data view should be created for this material.

  1. A, B) You can see in the graphics in the internal/external purchase order segment that both ext. purchase order and int. purchase order (ie: production order) are not allowed. Also note on the Quantity/value updating segment that both Qty and Value updating indicators are switched off, hence no inventory is allowed for such a material.

  2. C) You can included this material in the BOM but you should use item category 'N" (item category 'L" is not allowed), you will also likely need to set up the material for backflushing as goods issue via MIGO is not possible.

  3. D) A reservation cannot be created for this material, you can try this in MB21. That is also why you cannot include this material with item category 'L' in the BOM as a Reservation cannot be created.

  4. E) That is why in the graphic, there is a purchasing data view. You should create the pipeline material with a purchasing data view so that the Purchase Info Record with 'pipeline' info category can be created (PIR cannot be created without a purchasing data view). Even if you intend to create Pipeline info record without Plant, it is still not possible if the material does not have a Purchasing data view. The Pipeline info record is required when you perform a backflush of the material so that the info record price condition can be used to create a liability for the use of the pipeline material.
