In SAP PM (ECC6.0 EhP6), determine the valid number range design in Plant Maintenance.

A)   Functional Location can be externally defined without number range.
B)   An Equipment category can have either internal or external number range but not both.
C)   A Maintenance Plan category can have both internal and external number ranges.
D)   A Maintenance Item can only be internal number range.
E)   The Maintenance Item number range is independent of the Maintenance Plan category.

  1. A) The are no number range configuration for Functional Location master data. However, the creation of the FL Master depends on the Edit Mask tagged to the Structural Indicator. A Structural Indicator is mandatory when you create a Functional Location Master.

  2. B) IMG - PM/CS - Master Data - Technical Object - Equipment - Equipment Categories - Define Number Ranges (in this config, you create a number range group and assign to one or more Equipment Categories).
    The Number Range group can have the following number range assignment:
    . Both internal and external number range
    . Only internal number range
    . Only external number range

  3. C) IMG - PM/CS - Maint.Plan, Work Center ... - Maintenance Plans - Define Number Ranges for Maintenance Plans. (in this config. you create a number rnage gorup and assign to tone or more Maintenance Plan Category).
    It contains the same number range combination possibilities similar to Equipment Category number range (see above)

D, E) IMG - PM/CS - Maint.Plan, Work Center ... - Maintenance Plans - Define Number Ranges for Maintenance Items (This config has only one number range for the entire client and its an internal number range, the purpose is to ensure Maintenance Items in the client is unique independent of the Maintenance Plan header number).
