  1. We normally refer to the department responsible for delivery to the customer as the Shipping Department. However, the Shipping Point is not necessary a Shipping Department; it is in my opinion responsible party (group of people) for a certain criteria of customer shipping. And in SAP, there are 3 criterias used to define/determine a Shipping Point:
. Shipping Condiiton of the Sold-to-Party
. Loading Group of the Material Master
    . Delivery Plant

  2. Shipping Condition: This field resides at the Sales Area view of the Customer Master, it really means when we are selling through that Sales Area to a Customer, what is the shipping condition expected by the customer. (the specific way of handling the goods to be delivered)
Here are some examples of Shipping Condition:
. Customer comes in pick up the goods
. Goods to be delivered by a Transport service
. Goods to be delivered via a Particular Transportation mode
(I think you get the idea)

  3. Loading Group: This field is at the Plant view of the Material Master and not at the Sales Area view. You can then think of it as how the "Delivery Plant" handles the goods for delivery purpose.
Here are some examples of Loading Group:
    . Fork Lift
    . Crane
    . Parcel Packing

  4. Delivery Plant: This is where the goods are picked and shipped out from.
However, SAP places the delivery plant in 3 places with the following priority:
    1. Customer-Material Info Record
    2. Customer Master (Ship-to-Party)
    3. Material Master (Sales Area View)
