In SAP MM ECC6.0, EhP1, the Material Type of a material master can be changed provided the following:

ReplyDeleteIMG - Logistics - Material Management - Material Master - Material - Change Material Type.
The per-requisites are the above answers. You change the material type because wrong assignment when creating the material master.
