Question no 1599: Alternative labeling

In SAP PM ECC6.0, which of the following are correct about the use of Alternative Labeling in Functional Locations ?

A) It is only used for Actual Functional Location and not Reference Functional Location.
B) User Profile for assigning alternative labels can have multiple labels but only one label can be activated for the user at one time.
C) The Structural indicator used for the alternative label to a functional location can be different from the structural indicator of the functional location concerned.
D) The Structural indicator used for the alternative label to a functional location must be different from the structural indicator of the functional location concerned.
E) The Structural indicator used for the alternative label to a functional location can be the same as the structural indicator of the functional location concerned.

  1. A) As at ECC6.0, Alternative labeling is not yet available for Reference Functional Location. From the business perspective, the use of reference function location is probably limited to be used internally as a template (and not for customer or external partner use) unlike the operational functional location.

  2. B) You can use the t-code IL09 to create as many User Profile for a user but only one can be selected for active use each time.

  3. C, D & E) Yes, the structural indicator used to create the alternate labeling can be different from the structural indicator originally used to create the functional location. This is possible as the whole idea of an alternative labeling is another means of naming the functional location itself perhaps different from the original edit mask used to create it. And in addition to that, of course you can use the same structure indicator to create the alternative label itself.
