Questions: FIORI App for "PPDS Detail Scheduling Board" not working in class and what are the current published Apps for PPDS ?

The FIORI App should be working now or via the next LH Login after this week.

SAP Documentation on FIORI Apps in PPDS
https://help.sap.com/ProductionSchedulingBoard/ - With this app, you can optimize and plan the resource schedule and the order dates and times in detail by taking resource and component availability into account.
https://help.sap.com/MonitorCapacityUtilization/ - With this app, you can monitor the utilization of resources in a selected area of responsibility. The list provides you with a quick overview of which resources are already being fully utilized or have a capacity overload so you can react quickly to critical situations. Furthermore, you can easily discern which resources have a capacity underload and whose utilization is in the normal range.
https://help.sap.com/AdvancedSchedulingBoard/ - With this app, you can view various planning objects like planned orders, production orders on resources considering dependencies with other planning objects like purchase requisitions, purchase orders, stock transfer requisitions, stock transfer orders, etc. and different calendars like off-shift times, down-times and fixed intervals.

Questions: PPDS Time Fence not working correctly, looks like not the same calculation for MD04 and Product view ?

Answer: CLICK here to review the Test results on Time Fence effect for MD04 and /SAPAPO/RRP3 in S/4HANA 2023:

Questions: Planning Horizon (OPPQ) vs PPDS Planning Horizons in S/4HANA ?

ECC's Planning Horizon in the Plant Parameter (OPPQ) is not longer supported in S/4HANA. S/4HANA now offers the PP/DS Horizon in the "Advanced Planning" data view in the Material Master and the change offers significant revamp of the way Planning file entry is being using in different Planning runs in S/4HANA. Check the Blog Posts below to note the changes.

Answer: CLICK here to view the Presentation of PP/DS Horizon in S/4HANA:

Since it looks like there is indeed difference in Calculating days for Time Fence in MD04 and /SAPAPO/RRP3 and investigation of any parameters may affect the Calculation difference is not carried out, this test result is pending until further test or the next version.

Questions: APO Location Master "Planning Calendar" and "Display Calendar" vs the Classis Logistics Plants Factory Calendar ?

In APO system, the /SAPAPO/CALENDAR can generate Time Stream periods as a master data for the planning applications. Resource master data uses for capacity definition, and as many other data, it is stored as well in the LiveCache (S/4HANA). However, it is important to remember that the Factory Calendar from the Logistics Plant is still Mandatory as a Basis to generate the Time Stream Calendars for Advanced Planning.

Questions: Work Centre "Person Responsible" vs Work Centre "Capacity Responsible" vs Material Master MRP 1 view "MRP Controller" vs Material Master Advanced Planning view's "Planning Group" vs Material Master Work Scheduling view's "Production Supervisor" ?

In this presentation below will be testing on the Work Centre's "Person Responsible" and "Capacity Responsible" (the others next time).
Note the following findings which are demonstrated in the Blog Post below:
  • In work center, it is called “Capacity Responsible”.
  • In report CR60 and CR05, it is called “Person Responsible”.
  • In Capacity Work Center LOAD view via CM01, it is called “Capacity Planner Group”.
  • In APO Resource Listing, it is called “Planner”.
  • In APO Alert Profile is called “Resource Planner”.

Questions: DDMRP Demo, setup and processing, also Concepts ?

Imagine in the Manufacturing Planning that you can drop the Total Replenishment Lead times of a Product from 90 days to 14 days! That would immediately translate to a significant amount of Inventory Savings. AND that is the power of "Inventory Decoupling" suggested by the applications of the DDMRP (Demand Driven MRP).

The classic MRP is a forecast driven planning model which often suffers due to unforeseeable market fluctuations. The result of MRP planning tend to inflate inventory costs and create waste, primarily due to speculative stockpiling and inaccurate forecast results. DDMRP, on the other hand, was created to avoid this by prioritizing actual demand over forecasted data as the primary drive for inventory management.

While the conventional MRP inventory planning systems uses the bullwhip effects to plan purchasing based on forecast which invariably creates an inventory pileup due to demand variations; DDMRP ensures smoother supply chain operations. A unique feature of DDMRP is its emphasis on “Decoupled lead times.” This strategy minimizes variability and buffers against scheduled receipt volatility specifically rather than the entire lead time.
