ReplyDeleteThe BOM usage is configured to control the item status of BOM items entered. For example, the Production Indicator in the Item Detail's Status Long Text folder is be determined by the BOM usage so that MRP run recognizes this material from a valid BOM selected.
ReplyDeleteIn another example, a BOM usage '4' in the standard SAP system defaults the BOM item status with the 'PM' indicator ensures the material is available for selection when a valid BOM is found in the Plant Maintenance module.
ReplyDeleteYou can also use the BOM usage to differentiate the BOM to be selectable in different modules. Normally a selection ID is configured in a module to prioritise different BOM usages to be selected in that module. For example, you may configure a selection ID in the CO module such that during the cost estimate, the system first locate if any BOM is created with BOM usage for Costing before locating BOM usage for Production.
